Its no secret that as human beings we all need one another in some form or another. Working authentically in the mental health care field requires meaningful associations that promote competence, effectiveness, and self-care to name a few. Dr. L. Dangerfield has been a meaningful, as well as, empowering connection for me to have made as rising African-American female therapist in the rapidly evolving Nashville, Tn. As private practice clinician, she has helped shape and equip numerous mental health care providers, including licensed professional counselors in the Nashville community. Our professional relationship has fostered organic maturation and professional blossoming in a way that has been supremely valuable for myself, as well as, my clientele. She provides services that include professional empowerment and grooming, counseling coaching for women of color, and clinical supervision for Tn. LPCs. She reminds me that we as clinicians of color still represent a very small percentage of professionals in our field locally. She also reminds me to continuously show up authentically, presenting as myself with confidence, mindfully and professionally. One of our focuses as colleagues is to encourage collaborative partnerships within our local professional community. Dr. Dangerfield has a wealth of knowledge and experience that has proven to be beneficial to clinicians, clients, and mental health care for the AA community in Nashville. Don’t just take my word for it, take a peek for yourself and check her out, you can find her bantering with brown girls @Iambrowngirlbanter or dropping jewels @IamDrDangerfield as well as http://www.DrDangerfield.com.
