It took some time for it to resonate with me. Reading about Sniff and Scurry (the mice) and Hem and Haw (the littlepeople) was interesting to say the least. It’s interesting that sometimes its easier to identify adverse behaviors and characteristics outside of ourselves or within external situations. Reading this story held up a much needed looking glass as it relates to how I react to change. Even right now in this moment as I retype this post after having perfected it to my liking, only to have it delete and disappear…in its entirety without a trace of it’s whereabouts. I had to make a choice on how I dealt with the unexpected and unavoidable change, sulk or roll with the tide. Spencer Johnson’s “Who Moved My Cheese?” is a brief, yet effective read where the characters illustrate profound truths about change and possible outcomes of resistance. A week or so after completing the book, it hit me…my cheese has been moved and I have to choose how I go about finding it. With optimism and flexibility or with rigidness and resistance? Am I a Sniff or Scurry, Hem or a Haw? How do I handle change, how has that effected me, and what can I do to improve? Ashley, go get your cheese. Has your cheese been moved and if so what do you plan to do about it?
