Ethel L. Payne, better known as the First Lady of the Black Press, was a fearless journalist, columnist, and Civil Rights activist. She broke barriers no one else dared to approach and became the first African-American woman to be included in the White House Press Corps. Her journalistic advocacy efforts included racism and maltreatment in the United States armed forces, adoption crisis for African-American children, and the Civil Rights Movement. Because of her courageous journalism and advocacy efforts we have present day journalists such as @HelpfulLivingMag #blackpresshistory 🤎🖤peace out babes ☮✌🏾💕
